Demolition No 2 - Demolition in Scotland

Not too happy about going north of the border but demolition law may be changed in Scotland in that planning permission is needed for demolition in the following instances:
  • buildings "attached" to residential property;
  • listed buildings;
  • residential property; and,
  • non-residential buildings which would come within the scope of an environmental impact assessment (EIA).
Generally, demolition of a non-residential building escapes the need for a planning  application.

If you are intending to demolition  - you need to be sure so take a peep at the Town and Country Planning General Permitted Development (Scotland) (Amendment) Order 2011 (Articles 2(2)(a), 3 and 12) which amends the principal GPDO 1992, for Scotland.
